Love Storm

This is a short novel I wrote for a subject in school, but it wasn't for English. It was art... Ironic, right?  We had to create a cover for the story and record ourselves reading it in a program. Here's the story, I hope you enjoy it :)

He looked in my eyes and saw the passion in me like fireworks bursting in the air. I stood on the grass in the meadow and took a glance to see him rush towards me for a kiss, then…

"Lena, wake up!” her mom yelled from the kitchen. As she did, she wondered if her dream would ever come true. If it did, it would be a love story that she would never forget.
As Lena drifted downstairs, she could smell the ever-lasting smell of pancakes that were covered with melted butter and maple syrup.
“Anything new, sweetie?” Lena's mom asked.
“Just getting ready for a boring day, as usual,” she replied with a sigh.
“Honey, I'm worried… What's wrong? You've been acting all, I don't know, sad lately. What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing, okay? I gotta go. Bye, Mom,” Lena snapped and dashed to the door.

Lena was a senior, and went to Forest Creek High School and was super popular, but she had to guard a deep, dark secret no one knew.
She was totally in love Jason Gregory, but the thing was their families were total rivalries in the past with money between Jason and Lena’s family.
“Wait up, Lena!” Her friend, Julie yelled to her as Lena enters the halls of Forest Creek. She rushed to her and told Lena that there was some major gossip going around. “Jason likes someone… It’s kinda obvious now…”
“Who?” Lena asked quickly. Her chest started to hurt as her mind quickly filled with other girl’s names, all of them not being hers. Was it Crystal from math class? Or even Julie? Who could it be?
“Y-O-U! I don’t know why he wouldn’t. I mean you’re a perfect couple!” Julie exclaimed. “I heard he thinks you’re insanely cute, smart and funny --wait do you like him? It’s kinda seems like it ‘cause you always blush in front of him and stuff. Well, do you? I mean I know you’re parents would kill you but you know I can keep a secret...” she continued.
Lena blushed, covering her face with her silky hair. “W-well.”
“I knew it! I gotta tell him!”
“What? No! Don’t! It’s gonna go all around school and then my parents are going to find out! You have to promise Julie. Please?”
“Fine, but why didn’t you tell me? How long had you liked him?”
     “Um, for about a y-year…”
     “Whoa!” Julie yelled.

Suddenly the bell’s song rang throughout the school, indicating school starting.

At lunch, Lena didn’t eat. She just kept staring at Jason. He likes me? That’s impossible. But well, maybe possibly there was a chance if he did like me, she thought.

After we kissed, we ran off in the meadow and saw the magnificent creatures all around us. I hopped onto his white horse and ran away to his land with trees that had branches that shaped its branches into hearts all around us…
“Hello? Lena! Wake up! Prince Charming is coming!” Julie and Jessie, her twin friends screamed. Lena snapped her eyes open, thinking they were lying, but they weren’t.
My Romeo; with his silky brown hair and beautiful eyes, attractive smile, and much more that I can’t even explain!” She thought.
“Hey, Lena. Can we talk in private?” Jason whispered in her ear.
“Uh, sure.” Lena replied softly. As she was walking with Jason, out of the cafeteria, everyone was watching them with curious and envious eyes. Lena heard specks of conversations like, “Oh, my god, they are totally going out!” or “They’re made for each other, but too bad.”
Her stomach dropped rapidly. Did he just want to say he doesn’t like me or what?
When the door was closed and there was an awkward silence, Lena looked in his endless ocean blue eyes, and saw something beyond them, blooming like a flower. She was so hypnotized by them that she didn’t notice him leaning forward. He planted a gentle kiss on her cheek. Lena widened her eyes in surprise, not even expecting the kiss at all.
“I like you, a lot Lena.” He said slowly, looking in her eyes. “I know your parents and mine are messed up, but do we have to be part of that? Answer that. I know you like me in the inside but you’re afraid of showing too much and I understand. That’s one of the reasons why I like you.” Lena smiled sweetly and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek.
“I like you too. I just don’t know how it’s gonna work.”
“I’ll find a way.” Jason replied softly and left.
As Lena was walking back into the cafeteria, Julie was all up in her face, asking, “What happened?!”
“Well, he kissed me. On the cheek that is. And I did too…”
“Oh, my god!” They screamed and giggled with delight when everyone was out of the cafeteria.
Soon, she was deeply in love. Jason was the perfect guy and he never could let her go. She could never stand a day without him. They hung out everyday in school and after school. They tried to keep their dates a secret but soon, their secret was out.

On the night of their five month anniversary, during dinner, she asked her mom “Is it okay if I go out with someone?”
“Who honey?” Her mother asked, watching her daughter carefully.
“Jason…” Lena mumbled, so her mom couldn’t hear her. This isn’t going to be good, she thought sadly.
“Who? I couldn’t hear you, because you’re mouth’s full. Talk when it’s not, okay? It really irritates me. Who is it?”
“Jason Gregory! Okay? I love him!” She screamed across the table. She couldn’t control it, all the months her and Jason had gone out. All the times she wanted to tell her mother, she just couldn‘t. “Absolutely not! I repeat not!” Her mother yelled.
“Give me a good reason, why! You don’t even know me, but Jason does!” She replied.
Her mother sighed, “Honey… I don’t want you to see Jason. He’s not right for you. Stay away from him! He’s a bad person!”
“That’s what you think! Maybe this is just about you! Let me go, mom! Forget the past and live the present! I love him and will forever, no matter what you say!” and stormed in her room. I guess this is my first and last kiss of his. We’re probably gonna move now. She sighed sadly, and her eyes filled with tears.

While Lena was about to go to sleep, she heard a knock on the window. She pulled the curtains to the side and saw Jason. She opened the window quietly and kissed him softly; the kiss sent chills down her neck. Why can’t this last forever? She asked herself.
           “Hi.” He whispered.
“Hey. What are you doing here? My parents are gonna kill you!”
“I love you. I know you might not but I do…” He said and kissed her gently, he held both of her hands in his.
“I ...” She paused and smiled. “I love you too…”
“Let’s go to the park. I made a whole midnight picnic” He exclaimed eagerly.
“Okay, fine.” She replied with the sweetest smile.
Heading to the park, they strolled across the sidewalks and danced together under the moon light.
“I have to ask you something…” Jason whispered. He bent down on one knee and reached into his jean pocket. He held open a beautiful velvet blue box that held a sparkling diamond ring and said, “Will you marry me?”
Lena, in her peach nightgown, broke into quiet sobs, she whispered, “Why? What’s happening?”
“I’m moving, to New York because of my dad’s job. But it’s probably because of us, I don’t know. I know it’s seems far from here in California but it’s not! If you marry me that is…” He explained nervously.
“How about why don’t we just run away?” she asked.
“I’ve been dying for that, but you know we can’t because of you know... Is it a yes or no?” Jason was still bending down.
“I want to, but you know our parents would never let us! I love you but I simply can’t face them. I’m sorry.” Lena whispered as hot tears rolled down her cheeks. “In the future if we ever face each other again maybe but know that I love you and will forever.” She said as her tears became storms.
“I love you too, but we can if we-” he attempted to say but she interrupted him.
“We can’t!” She practically screamed, as her voice cracked. She sniffed and hugged Jason close. “Just know that I love you! Good-bye Jason.” She kissed him on the lips with so much love that it broke both their hearts once again. She slowly walked back to the sidewalk to begin her heartbroken journey home.
With a blink of Jason’s saddened eyes, she was gone. Like the stars once were and the new life of devastation began.
